The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 30

We made it, you guys. I actually posted for 30 days! Not straight but I was pretty close! Now, I said I was going to post about the movies for this challenge but I have to do the book for this one.

It's impacted me a lot actually. It lead me to LOTR which changed my view of life as a whole. So I'm really connected to The Hobbit. That started my journey to Tolkien's works and forever I will be grateful to it. I absolutely love this book from the front to the back. Basically, that's all I have except for tears. And I don't want to cry about how much I love this book. So yeah, trying to keep calm and collected. *inhales and exhales* And that wraps up my short and sweet post about The Hobbit's impact on me and concludes my 30 day challenge! Now let's move on to more awesome geeky, nerdy stuff...

Have you seen this?! This guy is SO talented. I was absolutely blown away...

And I've also been searching everywhere for a Lembas recipe and found one on the CoE (no I do not have an account, but I often go there to see what's new...). And I am really pumped to try it out because I've been craving some like nobody's business. So yeah, I'll try it out for you and let you know how it is.

How had The Hobbit impacted you? Can you mimic a LOTR/Hobbit character? Have you tried the CoE Lembas recipe?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 29

Tomorrow is the last day of this challenge! And I am ready to cross another goal! :D

The scene I was most excited to see was the riddles between Gollum and Bilbo. That was one of my favorite parts of the book. Obviously, you can tell because I've memorized a lot of riddles haha XD

I was also REALLY excited to see Beorn! He's awesome. I liked how they made that one part where we actually got to see him transform. SO COOL!

And I was SO excited to see the dinner at Bag End. I loved that the dwarves actually sang "Blunt the Knives"! And of course "Far Over Misty Mountains" but still...

BRAVA! Don't you just love that song?!

Which scene were you most excited to see? Anyone crossed/about to cross a goal yet?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 28

TWO MORE DAYS! And I actually got around to posting! Go, me! XD

Eek, this is hard. Um, if I could get away with not fighting ANY monsters that would be great, haha.

But, if I absolutely had to pick one monster, I would choose either a spider of Mirkwood or a troll. I've killed one spider already so I'm sort of sure I could kill another.

I haven't fought any trolls yet. But I'm pretty sure I could take one down. Although it took 13 dwarves to handle three and in the end they were all in sacks about to be cooked. Okay, maybe I'm not sure I could handle one on my own but I might. I, FOR SURE, could not handle Gollum, Smaug, goblins, orcs, Wargs, Barrow-wights, or Ringwraiths. Basically, I am pretty defenseless right now. I kind of shrink down and/or run away. But with some practice I should be able to protect myself... hopefully. I'm hoping to get my confidence level up soon and start defending myself. :D

So what about you? Which monster would you choose if you had to face one? Do you think you could protect yourself? Am I the only one who is pretty/just plain defenseless? And please let me know if you find anyone who could teach me some valuable fighting skills relatively close to The Shire (see what I did there? HA! XD). Thank you and have a great day!

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 25/26/27

ALRIGHT FINE! YOU CAN KILL ME FOR LEAVING YOU HANGING. But I wouldn't if I were you because we have Three. More. Days. Oh my goodness! WHAT TIME IS IT?! COUNTDOWN TIME! XD

You mean, what WAS my biggest fear for the movies? It was actually that they would make it an action film. When I read it for the first time, it was so light hearted and less intense than LOTR. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOTR. But I was young and wasn't ready to read the intense evil LOTR had. I knew very little of evil when I was younger. I knew it was there, but I wasn't exposed, I guess is the word I was looking for. So yeah, I would've liked it better if it wasn't as serious... Sorry I'm cutting it short because we have a lot of work to do.

Ha! You mean, how DID I think they were going to be split up?! Three movies, of course. Every time I think about this question these two memes come into my mind...

Hilarious... But I kind of liked them spread out into the movies.

This is you. Right. Now.
Seriously! I wasn't there when LOTR can't out in theaters so this gave me the chance to be at the theaters for a Hobbit marathon. It was an awesome experience. The seats reclined and everything. Okay Day 27. Man, how time flies! XD

Definitely against the Mirkwood spiders. It creeped me out but I liked it. Wait a sec, does that count? Well if it doesn't, then my other favorite is against the trolls. How the dwarves are jumping and running all over the place. It was SO cool...

I hoped you liked this crazy fast post. So, what WAS your biggest fear for the movies? And how DID you think the movies would be spread out? And what is the best fighting sequence, in your opinion?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 24

Day 24! And this one is going to be good!

I sat down and my jaw dropped to the floor. And then I watched again and screamed my heart out with joy when it finished. And then I cried because I still had to wait months for it to come out to theaters. Personally, I liked the second trailer better. I don't know why but I just do. And I like Ed Sheeran's music now because "I See Fire" is one of my favorite songs. That's how I discovered him...

Anyway, that's not important. The third trailer was okay. It didn't stir my soul like the others did. Plus, it made me sad to think that there will be no more movies made :'(

On the bright side, I sometimes watch the trailers on YouTube to lighten my spirit. I know, I'm weird like that X)

Next time I'm doing a marathon, the week before I will 1) let y'all know of course and 2) watch the trailers! I know... I'm so smart! XD

How did you react when you saw the trailers? Has anyone else been reminiscing recently? Anyone feeling nostalgic? Anyone ready for a marathon?! :D

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 23

Well, it looks like we only have one more week of this challenge, folks! I'm gonna miss it... And I still haven't won Monopoly yet. Ugh!

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." Basically, that's it. And welcome of course! And you should know that we are here to cry with you over the highly ridiculous and the non-ridiculous subjects.

You should also know that it is not easy work defending Tolkien's works if you are just starting out. I've seen debates about The Hobbit movies that are crazy detailed. So yeah, study hard and then go out and recruit.

And don't feel like it's ended even though you just started! After I watched BotFA, I cried so hard that night because I thought, "It's over. There's nothing left for me to look forward to!" But that's not true! I still haven't read The Silmarillion! (Sorry Lover of Lembas, I'm working on it... my mom wants me to wait for her because she's interested in what I've told her so far) And there's the Council of Elrond, and other fan-made sites where you can make friends and talk about the good old times! (Which I am dying to do asap!) You can enhance your collection (which is my place right now and I do not suggest because I want everything in my sight!). IT IS NEVER OVER! As long as you cultivate the love, it will never go away...

How do you feel about all the new fans entering this fandom? Suggestions for feeling like it's the end of the world when there is nothing left to do?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 22

Yay! I'm winning Monopoly (so far)! Well, I shouldn't say anything just yet because the game isn't even close to done. My mom won the last game so my little sister and I are joining forces against her! Mwahahaha!!!!

And another yay for us because I was very close to giving up looking for today's picture but I found it!

Sorry it's not the best quality... :'(

This was not very hard to decide because if it was I would be a terrible hobbit. So obviously I pick The Shire! Or Matamata is the real name but I think The Shire is better XD

It's very beautiful and, well, hobbity! (Don't ya just love that word?!)

I think the colors are a teensy bit enhanced but I think you get the idea...

And I also love The Lonely Mountain. It looks so majestic and fantastical! That's a word right? I read an article and it said that it was based on Mount Cook. It looks awesome to me!

The Lonely Mountain

Mount Cook

Hey, they are pretty similar after all!

What's your favorite location? Is it a set or an actual place? Have you played Monopoly recently? Do you own a Hobbit/LOTR Monopoly?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 21

HABIT BREAKING TIME!!! But I'm not sure if it counts because of yesterday 0_0 well, it'll just be out little secret. So here is the better post I promised you...

Myself. Or Bilbo. Or being Gandalf would be pretty cool too, except that his visit to Dol Guldur was not so nice. Oh! Being Beorn would be awesome too! Changing into a bear?! IN MID AIR?! So cool...

Okay I pick Beorn. That's final.

By the way, try not to get your hopes up but I'm thinking of adding artwork to my RP blog! Like I said, please don't get too excited. I'll try my hardest, I promise. Also, SINCE WHEN DO THEY HAVE LOTR/HOBBIT SKIRTS?!

I'm ready for a wardrobe change! XD

Which character would you like to be in The Hobbit? Do you have any LOTR clothes? Are they skirts? Have you gone through/going through a wardrobe change?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 20

... OKAY FIRST OFF I GET AN EXCUSE RIGHT? Okay maybe not but I'M REALLY SORRY! Ugh I feel terrible... But hey! You guys get two posts in one day! How fun is that?!

Hmm, I don't really know! Let's see...

Erm, Thranduil wasn't like I'd imagine him to be. In the book he was a merry king with merry people (there's a reason I didn't use quotes). He's just so cold in the movies!

Thorin's like, "Okay whatever drama king..."

And then he banishes Tauriel?! AND slices her bow in half?! Come on! That's not cool dude... NOT. COOL.

So this is a post about my least favorite character design... And it wasn't that good. But I will make it to y'all so don't ya worry none :D

Thoughts? Any Thranduil fans out there? What's your least favorite character design?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 19

Yes I found the picture! Please celebrate with me!

Hmm, this is an interesting question to ask. I'm pretty sure it's referring to when Smaug died and how it was in the movie. I'll just go along with that.

I haven't seen the movies in a while (December actually)... But I know I loved the part where Bard slot the black arrow. I wasn't fussy about his kids being in the movie and I actually thought it was nice that they put it in there. That whole "Bain look at me" moment.

So heartwarming... I think my mom was tearing up (okay and maybe me) in the theaters at this moment
So I watched the death scene of Smaug that was three minutes long. Here it is:

So I think it was great with the CGI and everything. And I laughed when Smaug crashed into the Master and his little gold boat. What?! He deserved it!

Okay so today wasn't a good day. My brain couldn't say what I wanted to say and I couldn't really critique it because yeah... My brain.

What do you think of Smaug's death? Had your brain worked today or does not function on weekend like mine?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 18

Thank you LoverofLembas (again XD) for finding me the picture for today! Hopefully I won't have to ask any more favors of you...

Probably a bow and arrow. That way I can shoot things from far away and not have to stab them up close... O_O

But if I was choosing for looks/size, I would choose Sting. The glowing is rather useful. You know that whole,"Hobbits go unseen if they wish so give them this bright glowing sword" Gandalf  "joke"? Yeah, I don't think it was that funny. Who here thinks Gandalf is an idiot? EXACTLY! No one does! So why pick on something like that?

Anyway, I wouldn't mind being seen if my sword was glowing blue. Sting is the perfect size for a hobbit and IT IS NOT A LETTER OPENER... (I hope you get my joke because I am not finding gifs for that scene right now)

Thoughts about Gandalf? Does it REALLY "defeat" the purpose? Weapon of choice? Bonus: Does anyone actually HAVE one of the collectible swords?! If you do, then which one? And if you don't, which one would you want? Have a good day!

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 17

Day 17! With a picture! YAY FOR US!!! And me because I've been having a lot of trouble with that lately! And if anyone could (PLEASE) send me a link for tomorrow? Sorry guys, I don't have a tumblr...

Bilbo, Gandalf, and Balin. Definitely. Who better than a fellow, adventure-loving hobbit, a wise wizard, and a sweet grandfather figure? It's like biscuits, hot cocoa, and marshmallows for breakfast. Which I have not had yet in case you were wondering...

But doesn't that sound SO appetizing right now? Even though it's Lent, it's Thursday. So I can snack today. It sounds SO good! Just look at this!

Yes I know this is not a biscuit but I couldn't find anything else...
And then when you mash them all together? You get this wonderful cookie!

Hot chocolate marshmallow cookies guys... CAN THERE BE ANYTHING ELSE MORE BETTER THAN THAT?
Okay this is SO not a Hobbit post. But it kind of is! Because hobbits, like me, love food right? So what better way to post something hobbity (yes it is a word) than post food? Or mostly desserts? Am I right?

Which three characters would you go on an adventure with? (HAVE YOU SEEN THE DAY 18 PICTURE SOMEWHERE?!) TTFN! Ta Ta For Now! :D

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 16

I can't think of anything else to say before I start anymore... Boo hoo :'(

I thought Martin Freeman was awesome in his role as Bilbo. He really fit into the character. But of course Richard Armitage was pretty good too. I mean, I (sort of) imagined Thorin that way, before the movies came out.

It's kind of hard to fit these characters (the dwarves for example) because they didn't have much detail in the book. Radagast isn't even IN the book so yeah. But I thought it was pretty cool that they added him in there. If he had just a little bit more, um what's the word? Oh my goodness, I'm drawing a blank. *bangs head against keyboard* ugh, this is torture...

Well, I'm assuming you know what I mean because I said it in a post earlier this week, right? *checks posts* oh yeah! The word I used was: "like a madman"...

Yeesh, I really said that? Wow, I must've been crazy frustrated or something. That was kind of, like... Okay I seriously can't think at all today. Please excuse my brain. It's still asleep.

Who do you think was the best casting? I hope my brain wakes up because I have A LOT to do today... Have a great day!

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 15

So I was able to find the picture today! Yay! And I saw one for tomorrow so no need to worry! :D

When people say anything, good or bad, about a book that I love (hint: Tolkien), I immediately ask if they've read it. If they say no, then I convince tell them to give it a try BEFORE they give others their opinion. The same occurs here.

I have a lot of friends who have not read the books OR seen the movies ONCE! And they know they better not say anything about what they think when I'm around. Why? Because their thoughts are biased. How can they say these things about something they have not ever tried before?

For instance, I've never tried sushi (real fact here). So I can't say I won't like it or that it's not good. And if I want to give my opinion on it, I have to experience it for myself. I am not interested in trying or giving opinions on sushi.

What is your opinion on people who think its a boring story? Have you encountered this situation? Have you tried sushi?

Proud to declare...

I am very proud to say that I conquered Xcelerater at Knott's Berry Farm yesterday!

I didn't know I was going to do this but I'm SO glad I did. My friend, Mary, convinced me to try it. And after a lot of bugging, I finally said yes. She was so excited for me. And her. Because although she has been on it several times, she still gets scared from time to time.

If you don't know which rollercoaster I'm talking about, you have a safe life. Seriously. People have gone unconscious on this ride for the anxiety they had.

Luckily, I'M STILL ALIVE! After going on, I was blown away about how fast it went that I didn't feel anything. And I literally mean not one single thing. It was only 30 seconds long. But still! I was seriously considering going on again, I liked it so much.

I know, I know. I'm such a daredevil XD

I want to go on so badly right now...

Have you been on a rollercoaster that you've NEVER thought you would go on? Which rollercoaster is your favorite, if you have one?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 14

Let's do a happy dance because I've been posting for two whole weeks! *happy dance commences* I almost didn't make it on Saturday but thank the Valar I was able to maintain my streak!

Prepare for a heartwarming/sappy/rambling post...
The Hobbit has taught me that even though I feel small in this world, I can still make it a better place. And even though I may not affect the whole world, I can still affect one person's life.

And that's good enough for me. It's all I need. Hopefully I can do that through my blog(s). Give someone a dream that they can do so much more than people say they can.

It has also taught me how to go out of my comfort zone to help others in their journey. To give someone hope... or courage... or even just a chance to find their true selves. You don't have to help homeless dwarves reclaim their home, like I did...

And that small everyday deeds done with love is enough to keep the darkness away. So don't forget to do everything with love ;)

There are so many wonderful things to learn from The Hobbit.

What did you learn from it? Have you put The Hobbit into your daily life?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 13

Yay! Only 17 more days to go! Wow this is such an accomplishment!

Ohmygosh for real I couldn't find the picture for today *sobs uncontrollably*

Thanks to LoverofLembas, I have a picture now! YOU'RE MY HEROOOO!!!!
So when my mom tried out homeschooling, she put me in this free online charter school. And at the beginning of the year, they give us a list of what we're going to study. The Hobbit happened to be on there that year. So when the time came, I read it as quickly as I could out of curiosity. I enjoyed it so much! That was one of my greatest memories of my old curriculum...

*nostalgic sigh* good times...

When did you first read The Hobbit? Did you read it in one shot? Have you seen the picture for day 13?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 12

There are so many little funny parts. Like Bilbo twitching his nose. But that's a different funny... It's cute funny XD

And there's Ori funny. Ori has his own category...

Seriously that is SO original. And might I mention hilarious. Well pretty funny...

And Gandalf was pretty funny too. But Gandalf is Gandalf so you can't get expect more than that! But the scene that makes me laugh the most is when Ori says, "I'm not afraid. I'm up for it. I'll give him some dwarvish iron right up his jacksie!"quo

(Please ignore the subtitles...)

HA!  There's nothing like a dwarf to make you laugh when the time is right...

Which scene makes you laugh the most? Isn't Bilbo's nose twitching the cutest? Do dwarves make you laugh as much as I do?

(P.S. Really sorry I was late to post. I was gone the whole day and was not able to get to a computer. Or my phone, which is kind of hard to type on.)

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 11

Yay! Day 11 is here! Honestly, I never would've thought I could get this far. Nor have anything important to say continuously XD

Spiders creep me out like crazy. I mean I will kill it if I need to but if there is someone else with me that doesn't mind it, I'll make them do it. I'm weird that way. So giant spiders on the TV made me cover my eyes with my hands. And killing a giant spider was scarier than watching one. But the scene was a memory for me and I did not appreciate it. Although, they did a pretty good job making them like the real ones. At least, I would say so...

Surprisingly, I wasn't that scared of Smaug. I was rather fascinated. But I was scared out of my skin for Bilbo. I was also really scared/annoyed when Thorin was going to throw Bilbo from the Mountain. Remember that scene?

Which scene scares YOU the most?

The Hobbit 30 Day Challenge: Day 10

You know what? I heard that it takes 21 days to form a habit. That means I have 11 more to go! Yay me!

As you all know, some of us don't have the likes for Tauriel too much... Yes I am one of those people. I understand that we should try to embrace the movies as they are but I didn't like her in there. Yes she added some touches to the movie so they could... could... what were they trying to do again?

I just didn't feel like she needed to be in there... That's just my opinion but I know others that really enjoyed that extra character. And with Tauriel in the movie, I feel like it gave Legolas more time on screen. Like how they went to Gundabad together? That wouldn't have given that insight to his mother dying there. Which, did that even happen? I'm not sure if that's canon or not...

Anyway, I have mixed feelings about Tauriel. When I saw it in the theaters, that was the only thing I noticed that didn't please me. And don't even get me started on that love triangle. It kind of felt, to me, that is wasn't real at first. But in the end. it showed that they loved each other. And yes, I did tear up at that part. But that doesn't mean that it took to my liking.

The other thing besides Tauriel is that they didn't include Bilbo's spider song. You know, the one where he makes fun of the spiders in Mirkwood? The one that I LOVE?! WHY COULDN'T THEY PUT THAT IN THERE?! I LOVE THAT SONG!

If it's on the extended edition, I will buy it no matter how much it costs. Well, if it's less than like $80. THEN, I would buy it.

AND THEY ALSO DIDN'T HAVE TO MAKE RADAGAST LOOK LIKE A MADMAN OKAY! For Pete's sake, he is still a wizard after all. Couldn't they have given him a little more dignity?

So, what are your unpopular opinions? What about my opinions? Where do you stand? Do you love that song as much as I do?
